The M9LW is a development of the standard issue M9 Bayonet that is now the longest serving bayonet in US history. Specially constructed to be lower in weight than the standard M9, this bayonet features the same critical design elements in a much lighter package. This bayonet is US made by the same DoD contractor as the standard M9.
The 7" stainless steel blade is .235" thick and is black oxide coated for low reflectivity and retains the milled saw teeth seen on the M9. Six 10mm diameter holes through the blade plus an aluminum hand guard and tang lower the overall weight whilst retaining correct balance and bayonet strength.
A specially designed thermoplastic nylon handle is comfortable in the hand when the M9LW is used as a field knife or when using the built in wire cutter. The scabbard features the wire cutter attachment, flat head screwdriver, and molded tie down loops.
These bayonets come with MOLLE / PALS attachment for securing to a wide variety of load carry systems. Wire cutter attachment on scabbard is covered when not in use to avoid snagging. 2 handle securing straps are provided to enable inverted vertical carry (either strap may be easily removed if required). This bayonet is designed to fit the M16 weapon series as well as M4, C7 and the Mossberg 590 Special Purpose Shotgun.
